AI, ethics, sustainability: the bachelor's degree in computer science gets a makeover at UCLouvain

At a time when artificial intelligence is evolving at breakneck speed, UCLouvain is launching its academic year under the banner of innovation.

At a time when artificial intelligence is evolving at breakneck speed, UCLouvain is launching its academic year under the banner of innovation. The UCLouvain Polytechnic School is offering a completely redesigned Bachelor's degree in Computer Science , designed to address societal challenges (sustainability, cybersecurity, AI ethics, digital law) and the needs of the job market .

A program in line with society

  • From the first year, students address crucial themes:
  • impact of technologies on privacy, media and employment;
  • cybersecurity and ethics issues of artificial intelligence;
  • sustainability of digital tools;
  • algorithms applied to video games.
  • The idea: to train responsible IT professionals , capable of innovating while taking into account people and the environment.
  • Project-based learning as a driving force

The teaching method is based on learning by doing : students use real-life cases to learn the theory.
An example? At the end of the course, they must analyze the design of mobile applications, websites, and even embedded systems with AI, in order to identify viable solutions and their limitations. This is an effective way to understand the necessary ethical and technical guidelines .

A diploma that opens all doors

With almost 100% employability , UCLouvain computer science graduates are sought after in various fields:

  • health (medical imaging, digitalized patient journey),
  • video games,
  • cybersecurity,
  • software design,
  • data science and data processing.

Every year, companies demand more qualified IT professionals. The program's redesign responds to this demand, while ensuring students receive training that is challenging, practical, and forward-looking .
